Gunnison, CO and it’s still Winter at the Cabin.

Dad joined me for a trip down to my friend Jeremiah’s house On Blue Mesa Reservoir to pick up the 4runner, as they were done working on it. Foggy and snowy to start the drive on 285, but the sun was out for the trek through South Park.

After picking up the 4runner, I parted ways with Dad and stayed the night at the cabin to test out the sleeping platform. To be honest, this was one of the more enjoyable solo nights at the cabin I’ve had in a while.

Lots of animal activity:
6 Cranes in South Park. The usual deer and Elk spotting. Two pup Coyotes on the east side of Kenosha Pass ( heading back towards Denver). A flock of Turkeys just outside the property (usually see them once a year), and a Red fox having breakfast along Upper Bear Creek Road. Oh, and lots and lots of baby calves.

Morning views as we drop down into South Park.

Jeremiah was kind enough to get the 4runner to there place on Blue Mesa Res (outside Gunnison, CO) to help shorten the drive. Snow started to set in on there place as we picked up the 4runner.

Lots of baby calves outside Gunnison, CO.

Stopped to enjoy the views while driving over Monarch Pass.

The 4runner. Proffitt’s installed a new roof rack and Sliders. Powdercoated to match the cladding.

Guess it’s still winter at the Cabin. A foot of snow fell with the last storm.

On my way to the Upper Meadows. Making fresh tracks the whole time. I was a happy camper:).

Monkeys Face in the distance/

Not far from here, our property backs up to Mt. Evans Wilderness.

Monkeys Face again.

I was enjoying the drive.

Evening setting in.

Another of my favorite views from the property.

Spotted eight Elk on the property.

First night testing out the new sleeping platform:).

North to Squaw Peak.

Mt. Evans.

Dinner time views.

Early morning light on Rosalie.

Mt. Evans again.

One of the Toms I was able to get a picture of. Rest of the flock seemed camera shy.

Jeremiah got these for me a long time ago. Totally forgot about them. They were in the 4runner when I picked it up. Now I need to get them on:).

Fable Valley

Was lucky enough to explore this fine, remote stretch of Canyon Country with Dad back in 2010. Three awesome Days. Seemed we had the place to our selves.

Been trying to get back since:).

My pal Martin and I got close in 2014 but had to turn back.

No glasses, no scar, no gray hair… To think that was only 2014.

Working our way through the high country.

We were so close! Some wonderful country!

Were we had to turn around. Martin’s 60 had worn down tires. The mud didn’t help.

Seems like even the rigs were bummed to not make it to Fable Valley. Or maybe they were just happy to be on a dry stretch of road…

Planned to return last year but got sick….

So bring on 2019!

Cruise Moab 2019 Poster. Day two of printing.

Another fun day printing the Cruise Moab 2019 poster. We were able to get another two runs printed today. Fun to watch the image develop with the color runs. I’ve only done a few silk screen posters. An involved but fun process, hopefully will get better with this over time. Glad to have Dad’s help during this learning phase.

Proofing the red/4th color run.

4th color run.

5th color run. Image for the poster is almost there.

Goal of where we want the poster to be. Used the transparency images as a visual.

Having missed last years Cruise Moab, an annual event held in the town of Moab, Utah, due to being sick, i’m getting super excited for 2019. It’s become an annual pilgrimage for me. A few years ago I made a silk screen poster for the event. The response was better than I imagined, so decided it’s time to do another for 2019. I will actually have two versions this year. Today I spent the afternoon getting the image laid out. Excited to see how they turn out:).

Wanderin’ the West. My new blog.

Welcome to my new blog Wanderin’ the West.  A place I hope, to be able to share my travels and adventures through out the West and beyond.  Not really having my own place on the web, felt a blog was the best place to start. Just need to learn all the ins and outs of designing a blog and sharing.  Please, check back often, as there will be a lot to post. Once I figure out what i’m doing….

Currently, you can find me over at Rising Sun 4×4 Club .  A Denver based Toyota 4×4 club.  Posting as “Bh4rnnr”.
