Porsmork Valley

Originally, I hoped we could get into the Porsmork Valley with Artic Trucks, even with a discount though, the price was to steep- Iceland’s currency is one of the strongest in Europe. We ended up taking a bus into the valley, something that turned out to be most enjoyable. As we neared the main drop off point in the valley, the bus waited for a tractor, to help tow it along in case it got stuck fording the river.

During our bus ride in and out of the valley some of my favorite moments while looking out the window: Watching a rental jeep finish fording one of the easier crossings of the river with the rear bumper being dragged on the ground, held on by an electrical wire. As we made our way out of Porsmork, the bus driver ( we were in an off road bus) warned us “that things were about to get tippy” as we made yet another river crossing. about half way through the crossing the bus leaned to the right as the tire passed through a dep section of river.

The views from the vantage point were amazing. Thanks to my pal Greg ( Expeditions 7) for this recommendation! What an incredible place!

Our first stop in Porsmork Valley. Dale taking in the views.

Out of the bus and starting a short hike up to view the valley.

Looking down at another bus about to cross the river.
