Henry Mountains, Summer 2009. Act 2: A climb up South Summit Ridge & a fine sunset over Capital Reef

Woke up to a blue bird day in the Henry’s. I set out for the day with the goal of hiking up to the ridge of South Summit.

Already a ways above camp. The Water Pocket Fold in the distance.

Came across a claims marker.

Starting the climb up towards South Summit Ridge.

Following along a avalanche path as I near the summit. Capital Reef and the Water pocket Fold always in view.

Almost made it to the ridge of South Summit but got distracted with a mid day nap…

Heading back down towards camp.

Looking West to Capital Reef and the Water Pocket Fold.

I watched this storm dance across Capital Reef. As it got closer, I stripped naked and took it all in as it passed over me.

Double Rainbow.

A fine evening indeed.

I was a happy camper.

Looking South.

End.
