Georgetown Loop, Summer 2021

In late June I meet up with my pal Dan for a morning ride on the Georgetown Loop. We also did the extended Lebanon Mine tour as Dan’s girlfriend Nancy is working on the Loop and giving tours of the mine. Being a short drive from Denver, it’s always a fun outing. Enjoyed the added mine tour from Nancy as well. Being a chemist, she was having fun inside the mine:).

I arrived in Georgetown a bit early. So went for a walk around town before the crowds showed up.

About to leave the Devils Gate/Georgetown Depot.

Brakeman checking our fares.

Coming into Silver Plume (9,101ft).

Taking on water in Silver Plume.

A fine summer morning for a train ride.

#111 stopped to let us off for the Lebanon mine tour.

At the entrance to the Lebanon Mine.

Hoist room.

Far below I-70, Nancy talks more about the mine.

I was having fun taking pics inside the mine:).

Near the end of the tour (extended).

Back outside and on our way back to the Devils Gate/Georgetown Depot.

Dan and I lingered for a bit after the train ride to snap some pics of #111 on the High Bridge.

End.
