Cumbres and Toltec, Fall 2021. Act 2: The Chase out of Chama (and back)

Friday morning, after breakfast with my Aunt and Uncle at the Boxcar Café, I meet up with my Pal Dan and Nancy for another fun day of photographing the C&TS. Being Friday and still on Covid restrictions, the C&TS was only running a short train out of the Chama Yard- Leaving Chama mid day, turning around at Cumbres Pass and returning to Chama early afternoon.

After enjoying the train movements around the Chama yard, we set out for a fun afternoon chasing the C&TS. Not to long out of Chama on the main road, we came across a small Black Bear Cub running across the road, Fun. We made a few stops as the train made it’s way to Cumbres Pass, of course the usual crowd followed along. Photographers set up at all the fun spots. Once at Cumbres Pass, we watched the train turn around before heading back to Chama. I’ll be honest, the chase back to Chama was almost more fun than the chase to Cumbres Pass. Didn’t have to worry about other train enthusiast, and the views were a different welcome. Back in Chama, I meet up with Dan, Nancy and Dan’s family for enjoyable bbq.

The next morning, up early to get home, I found myself in one of the most wonderful drives to date.
