Henry Mountains, Summer 2020. Act 3: A lazy morning around camp and an evening hike to Mt. Ellen

Our last full day in the Henry’s started off as a lazy one. With not much planned for most of the day. It was nice to relax and just chill out for a bit. That evening for the 4th of July, we set out and Hiked to the Summit of Mt. Ellen, one of three prominent peaks in Utah. With the sun setting and the moon rising as we crested the summit, then a full moon lighting us back to the rigs made fore one of the more magical hikes I’ve been on. After the hike we headed back to camp and the campfire, where we enjoyed good company well into the night.

Paul May always seems to be well set up.

Paul had a=on a new hard shell roof top tent from Eazi-Awn that he was testing out for the weekend.

Fine views of Capital Reef and the Water Pocket Fold.

Almost to the end… Spotted a bit of Buffalo scat along the ridge line to the peak.

Group photo while at the top. During the hike down, we had a full moon guide us back to the rigs, and we stopped to watch the Fireworks from Hanksville go off from 11k ft. A truly wonderful night.

End.
