Silver Plume and the Georgetown Loop, July 2018

Back in July of 2018, I spent a weekend with a dear friend enjoying the town of Silver Plume. We stayed at the Historic Windsor Hotel, enjoyed a ride on the Georgetown Loop, and checked out and old mine recommended by an old timer. A fun weekend indeed!

Walking to the Silver Plume yard to get our tickets for the day, spotted the train crew getting the train ready for the day.

Checking out a few mines just above town on the 7:30 mine trail.

Overlooking Silver Plume, CO.

A fine summer day to ride the train. Shay #9 is no longer in service with the Loop, Engine #111 replaced it.

Always a good view from the pavilion to do the Lebenon mine tour.

The historic Windsor Hotel. Originally built in 1884 as a miners hotel, it was reopened in 2014 as a B&B. A most fantastic place to stay.

Checking out the mine an old timer recommended. Still in fairly good shape, especially being so close to I-70.

Here, just across the valley, you can barely make out the old grade/switch backs of the Argentine Central Line.

Survey marker from 1982.

Not the best pick, but some of the shelving that was inside the main building.

End.
