Chasing the Cumbres and Toltec, Summer 2021. Act 3: The chase through the Chama Valley and Apache Canyon to Osier

For our final day of the Train Trip, we chased the train out of Chama, NM. It’s always fun chasing the train out of Chama, as you get to see a lot of other train lovers taking pics at the “usual spots”. The weather was perfect for another day with friends and steam trains. After Cumbres Pass, we broke off pavement and headed to Osier via Apache Canyon. I was originally told about this route from the owner of the RV park in Chama back in the day. It’s always a beautiful drive and the fording of the Rio de Los Pinos to get to osier a fun little bonus. We had one last campfire to end the weekend. The next morning I was up early and bound for home. Work always seems to loom on the horizon….

Nice morning to start the day.
