Kebler Pass and Lost Lake, Fall 2020

In early October, work was kind enough to let me switch some days around so I’d have a long weekend. I wanted to get out as the 2nd of October would be my two year anniversary for Open Heart Surgery. Felt it was a good milestone to get out and celebrate.

I headed down to Crested Butte to check out the Fall colors on Kebler Pass. After stocking up on supplies and fuel, I headed out of town. Kebler Pass is easy drive, a mix of graded dirt and paved road. It was busy when I was down there, the Aspen’s at there peak and everyone out enjoying the colors. I lucked out with a spot at Lost Lake, where I’d spend the next two nights. It was a most enjoyable outing and seem to be a little bit more at peace with the surgery.

The Fall colors were at there prime on Kebler Pass.

The Aspens along the Paonia side of Kebler were simply stunning. I seemed distracted with them at every turn. I looked up while on my way to camp and saw this scene. Quickly turned around to get it with the camera.

Evening light on Lost Lake (slough) from camp.

East Beckwith Mountain.

Not a bad way to end the day:).

Went to bed early so I could get up and catch the morning light.

Another photographer out catching the light.

Bliss:).

After catching the sunrise, went back to bed for a few hours, then loaded the day pack and headed out on a 3 mile hike to Lost Lake and Doller lake. A most enjoyable hike.

Good views. Looking back to camp.

Dollar Lake.

Yours truly. I spent some time here soaking in the views, along with a toast to two years post Open Heart Surgery.

Golden Vistas.

Stopped again along Kebler Pass to take in the Aspens.

:).

Last night at the lake.

I woke up early Saturday morning, packed the 4runner and was going over McClure Pass in time to catch the sunrise. Fine way to end the trip!

End.
