2022 Winter Photo Special

This past weekend, I headed down to Durango, CO for this years Winter Photo Special on the Durango and Silverton Railroad. I hadn’t planned on going this year, but while registering for my 4×4 clubs Cruise Moab event, I randomly checked the website for the Durango and Silverton and found that they were running the Winter Photo Special for 2022. So on a whim, I signed up.

It was fun to get back down to Durango and ride the train. Last time was 2018 for the Winter Photo Special. One of these days I’ll actually ride the train all the way to Silverton:). Out of the 350+ pics I took on Sunday’s train ride (plus the night shoot at the Durango train yard), these are some of my favorite.

Enjoy:).

On the “Highline” and en route to our first photo stop.

On the Highbridge.

Galloping Goose #5.

Along the Animas River.

Cement Wall.

Waiting for the passenger train to pass. At Cascade Canyon.

A great run by of #481 with Pigeon and Turret Peaks in the distance.

The crew for the days outing.

Passing over the Animas River on Tefft Bridge.

Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful to ride the train (especially coming off a super cold week of work).

Waiting for that shot.

Back along the Animas.

North on the High Line.

Animas River far below.

Watched this scene all day…

Night shoot in the Durango train yard. Always fun.
